Princes William and Harry attend the Royal World Premiere of the new Bond Film Quantum of Solace

29th October 2008

Princes William and Harry attended their first Royal Film Premiere this evening with the world premiere of the new Bond film, Quantum of Solace, in London.

The brothers arrived at the Odeon in London’s Leicester Square, and immediately went over to meet 200 invited servicemen, veterans and their families who had been invited to the event.

The Princes chose two charities to benefit from the event, the Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes.

The Royal British Legion was set up to protect the interests, welfare and memory of people who have served in the Armed Forces and Help for Heroes was launched last year to help support injured servicemen.

Before the screening Prince William and Prince Harry then spent almost half-an-hour inside the Odeon where they chatted and joked with cast and crew including Daniel Crag who plays Bond, Dame Judi Dench and Bond girls Gemma Arterton and Olga Kurylenko.

It took 20 minutes before Prince Harry reached the actresses and to much laughter he joked: "What took us so long to get down this end?"

Gemma Arterton said afterwards: "I had a nice chat. They are lovely guys, really charismatic and polite. We had a giggle."

Daniel Craig arrived at the premiere looking every inch James Bond and wore a discreet black sling after surgery on his right shoulder, which he injured during filming.

Earlier he was shaking hands using his left hand but to greet The Princes he removed the strap and offered a firm hand.

The other Bond girl, Ukrainian-born Olga Kurylenko, also chatted warmly with Prince William and Prince Harry.

The Princes were introduced to the stars, including Judi Dench and New Bond villain Mathieu Amalric, by the film's producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

The Princes also met musician Jack White, who co-performs the Bond song Another Way to Die with Alicia Keys

Dame Judi Dench wore a glamorous black dress with 007 stuck in glitter on the back of her neck.

The Oscar-winning actress, who plays M, said: "The character of her is strong and bossy. I don't like being in an office all the time."

When she was asked what direction she thought future Bond films would take, she replied: "He will move with the times."

Daniel Craig has been credited with reinvigorating the Bond brand, a leaner and meaner character fit for the modern world.
